![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Building of Congress (1 sub-board) Before the war, this old, white marble building was used as a meeting place for the governing body of Rathlin. Now, the Congress still meets here, but under the supervision of the Kommandant and several other German representatives. One wing of the building is also used as the German military headquarters.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Shops In Town (4 sub-boards) The town square is merely the center of the large wheel that makes up Garrowsmouth, Rathlin's capital. Along many sidestreets, the citizens of Garrowsmouth still stubbornly keep their shops, though any who refuse to sell to Germans may find doing so is harder than they originally thought.
Shop sub-boards within.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Boartooth Pub A sprawling building that sits among the houses of town, the Boartooth is one of the oldest buildings in Garrowsmouth, as is apparent from its crumbling brick walls and the peeling paint on its sign, a heavy ancient wooden board depicting a raging boar with a bloody tusk. The Boartooth is the main pub in town and does a roaring trade in a wide variety of things, most notably its excellent ale. Locals throng to the pub nightly for a good drink with their mates, but as of late many a German uniform has been seen within the Boartooth, much to the irritation of the regulars. After the invasion, tensions running high have made the pub a different place...one with a more dangerous air.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Wharves Garrowsmouth is the biggest port on Rathlin, and lately its wharves are even more crowded than usual due to the fact that all private boats now must be docked at the public Garrowsmouth wharves so no escape attempts can be made. Most of the Kriegsmarine ships also dock here, though a majority have left to return to France and the only ones remaining are the essential protection of the island.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Neighborhood Outside the center of town, houses dot the streets that wind their way over the land to form the small city of Garrowsmouth. Most of the houses in this area belong to the middle class and are small yet comfortable places.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Airfield Before the war, this airstrip was small and only used for commercial planes or the few people who actually owned airplanes on the island, but now it has been converted by the Germans into a major military operation. New hangars have been built to accomadate the different squadrons, and at all times one can pass by and see a wide variety of fighters and bombers taking off or waiting for the signal to scramble. No civilians are allowed here without permission.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Wethersby Hill Wethersby Hill itself towers above the town of Garrowsmouth. Lightly dotted with trees, it is mostly covered with scrub grass and the occasional boulder. Two roads--the main street of town and a goat path--wind to its pinnacle. Many enjoy hiking up here.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Baliff's House The baliff lives in a large manshion at the very top of Wethersby hill and is surrounded smaller houses where servants and other members of the government live. Adorned with ivy and stunning gardens on the outside, the inside is no less spectacular and is full of unused rooms. Lately, many of the important Rathlinners gather here in secret to discuss "the German situation".

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Wethersby Hotel On the southern plateau off of Wethersby Hill itself, the large, upperclass Wethersby Hotel sits where the sun exposure is best. Boasting Greek columns in the front, the rest of the building is brick and has notably large windows that allow light to pour into the house. Most of the German officers are billeted here.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | McKinley Forest A large forest, mostly deciduous, covers much of the rolling hills eastern side of the island and ends abruptly in sheer cliffs that descend to the sea below. Game is plentiful here, and only the main road winds through it: one must be knowledgable of its layout to wander off the path.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Farmlands Since most Rathlinners either are farmers or are acquainted with farmwork, it is not surprising that most of the island has been cleared for farming. Over the wide pastures upon which various types of livestock graze, the occasional cottage dots the lush grass near the main road. One will often see farmers working outside on a good day by walking down this road.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | South Beach The only beach fit for swimming is on the southern end of the island, hence the name South Beach. A beautiful spot, it has always been popular with teens and for family outings and, most recently, German soldiers, who are delighted with the idea of actually swimming in the ocean.

![[ ]](http://www.cmedst.umn.edu/txtnimge/images/knot3.gif) | Scout Outpost A makeshift barracks has been built near the center of the island on the long main road in addition to a roadblock. In order to pass into town, country dwellers must come past this outpost where a Wehrmacht division is permanently stationed. Many of the soldiers on duty patrol the road on motorcycles during the day and report back here to spend the night and switch off with the evening patrol.
